Honoring the Legacy of…

Joshua Gwynn

Joshua Gwynn (1826-1907)

Born into slavery, my great-great-grandfather Joshua Gwynn bought his way out of slavery in 1847, at 21, for $1,000 working as a stonemason, 18 years before Juneteenth. Joshua eventually purchased 200 acres of land in Glen Arm, Maryland, and property in Towson and Mount Washington. As it turns out, my great-great-grandfather helped many black families become home and land owners when banks refused to do business with them.

In honor of the legacy of my great-great-grandfather, Joshua Gwynn, Lamonte G Photography is hosting the first annual Freedom of Black-Owned Business Juneteenth Expressionshots™ Celebration.

If you are a black-owned business owner that would like Expressionshots™ of you and your team, fill out the registration form. This opportunity is open to a few select businesses. So register today!
